It’s been a while since we did a Kickstarter watches roundup – so we thought it was high time we looked at what is on the crowdfunding platform this month.

Kickstarter Watches Roundup – May 2019

We’ve already covered a couple of watches that are live or imminently due on Kickstarter (the Vario Empire, the Monachus and the superb-looking Newmark 71) so here are some that didn’t have a full feature on WRUK.

Culem World Timer

Culem has jumped on the GMT bandwagon with this world timer featuring a bold (some may say gaudy) colour world map on the dial. At first glance this may sound like a Chinese fashion watch, but it boasts a top grade ETA movement and some more refined dials which may appeal to the watch enthusiast. The price, at about £1,000 is a little steep for Kickstarter and it’s hard to recommend this over a tired and tested Christopher Ward GMT model if we’re honest – and like the Rob Hayes Yosemite before it, we juts couldn’t get past the choice of name.

Nordgreen Pioneer

We’ve reviewed a prior model, the Nordgreen infinity and found it to be a well-built if slightly derivative timepiece. The latest Nordgreen model is being launched on Kickstarter and it shares much of the design DNA of the previous models. It’s a thin Japanese-quartz powered dress watch with a chronograph function. There’s little to set Nordgreen apart from the other fashion watch brands, but we are impressed by the company’s green credentials.

Prism Watch

Finally, the Prism watch – like countless other Kickstarter watches before it – claims it can match every facet of your personality. We’ll leave it to you to decide if it’s for you, but that pointed crown looks like it might get a little uncomfortable.
