Another new year brings more crowdfunded watches. We take a look at a couple of new Kickstarter projects that have caught our eye.

Kickstarter Watches Roundup – January 2021

January is always a quiet month for Kickstarter watches, but a couple of projects have launched recently, perhaps with an eye on post-Christmas shoppers.

Marizollo Diver Watch

A new release from the company behind the snappily-named Victorioscuro brand, the Marizollo is an automatic diver watch with a Helium Escape Valve. At less than $250 USD it seems very well specified for the price, we particularly like the 3-dimensional hour markers.

CARBON² Titanium watch

The unique selling point of the CARBON² titanium watch is its snap-on bumper case. Yes, it’s perhaps a bit of a gimmick but the Australian project has blasted through its funding goal with three weeks still to go. The rubber case protector is reminiscent of that which is provided with the Victorinox I.N.O.X. (which we would never actually wear on the watch!). In this case, the cover looks like it is actually possible to use with the watch on a regular basis and, by doing so, the brand claims it switches from a sports watch to a more minimalist design. At £200 it will not break the bank, but the lack of clarity over the choice of quartz movement will make some buyers think twice before backing it.CARBON2 watch

Buying a Watch on Kickstarter

Remember that Kickstarter is not a shop, it’s a place where you can back new businesses, That means you will have a wait before the watch you preorder arrives, and there is always a risk of losing your money. Don’t let that scare you off – read our guide to buying a watch on Kickstarter to find out more.
